The Mighty Murray River
Early risers can enjoy a morning wander along the mighty Murray River. The Campaspe River Walk is a great way to ease into the day: it’s flat, fully sealed, and perfect for a gentle stroll.
But that’s not the only way to explore the river: get on board one of Echuca’s famous paddlesteamers. We’ve got the largest fleet in the whole world (yes, you read right!). It’s a great way to see the river at its best. Kids might even get the chance to get behind the wheel – supervised by the skipper, of course!
Get Into the Great Outdoors
For a change of pace, there are plenty of bushwalking tracks in the area, too. You’ll need to stay for more than a few days, you won’t conquer every trail in the region. Echuca is also a hotspot for off-road cycling; it’s a fantastic way to get amongst the bushland.
Delights of High Street
For a pick-me-up after the ride, head to High Street. It’s hard to choose between coffee and chocolate, and Echuca isn’t going to make you. Both the Echuca Chocolate Company and Echuca Coffee Roasters are within a stone’s throw of each other. You’ll find in-house roasted coffee beans: the freshest you’ll find anywhere. Yep, it’s a big call, but we think that’s why it’s even better than Melbourne coffee.
Sweeter still, the Echuca Chocolate Company offers free tastings. Handmade, all-natural chocolate…. You’ll be sorely tempted.
