Exploring the Rosé of St. Anne’s Winery

A cornerstone of our philosophy at St. Anne’s Winery, is to diversify and innovate our extensive portfolio of high quality Australian wines.  Among its highlights is our recent experimentation into the world of Rosés, including our Dry Rosé – now replaced by the Cabernet Rosé – and the sweet Shiraz Rosé.
Each of these brings a distinct style to the table, catering to different preferences and occasions; but all are perfect for enjoying in the warmer months of spring and summer. Here, we’ll delve into each of our three styles, comparing their flavour profiles, offering pairing suggestions, and experiences they offer.

St. Anne's Winery Dry Rosé

Our first venture into making rosé wine was our Dry Rosé – a style we have since moved away from and no longer make.  Crafted from Shiraz grapes, it featured a crisp, dry finish, accompanied by notes of ripe summer berries, rose petals and a hint of spice on both the nose and the palate. With the structure of Shiraz grapes but a lighter profile and smooth finish, we were very pleased with our first venture into Rosé with this style.

Although it’s now been replaced by this year’s Cabernet Rosé, the legacy of this wine remains an important stepping stone in our journey with its approachable yet sophisticated style.

St. Anne's Winery Cabernet Rosé

2024’s introduction of the Cabernet Rosé marked the next chapter of pink wine for St. Anne’s. Made in a dry style, this wine showcases the versatility of the world’s most widely grown grape – Cabernet Sauvignon.  It boasts a flirtatious light pink hue, zippy acidity, and a refreshing palate. Flavors of red cherry, strawberry, and red currant are balanced by subtle herbaceous undertones and a citrusy finish.

Slightly lighter than its predecessor but equally complex, this wine is best served SLIGHTLY chilled – emphasis on ‘slightly’!  It pairs excellently with cheese and fruit platters, canapés, or even as a stand-alone aperitif. With a bright and lively profile, it makes it a perfect choice for warm weather sipping.

St. Anne's Winery Shiraz Rosé

This sweet and fruity rosé is another standout from St. Anne’s Winery. Crafted from Shiraz grapes harvested during cool summer evenings, it features a deeper pink color and a luscious flavor profile. Aromas of violet and red cherry lead into a palate bursting with strawberry and raspberry notes, complemented by smooth acidity.

Unlike the drier Cabernet Rosé, this wine appeals to those who prefer a touch of sweetness. It’s an excellent choice for pairing with seafood, spicy dishes, or desserts, providing a refreshing contrast to bold flavors. The Shiraz Rosé’s versatility and fruit-forward character make it a great option for celebrations or relaxing afternoons.
As a part of introducing a new era of St. Anne’s labelling, our entire Sweet Wine range recently got a makeover!  But not much changes around here, it’s still the same great wine, just with a brand new look.

Comparing the Range

Our current range of Rosé offers something for opposite palates. The Cabernet Rosé, with its zesty acidity and herbaceous complexity, is perfect for those who enjoy vibrant and modern wines. Meanwhile, the Shiraz Rosé caters to fans of sweeter, fruitier profiles, bringing a playful elegance to the table.
Each wine reflects our dedication to quality and innovation, with careful attention paid to the vineyard’s cool-climate grapes. Whether you’re reminiscing about the Shiraz Dry Rosé, savoring the contemporary Cabernet Rosé, or indulging in the luscious Shiraz Rosé, St. Anne’s rosés promise a delightful journey into the world of Australian winemaking.
